Crossroads Screening: Meet the Stars & Filmmakers of the Groundbreaking ESPN Film

Crossroads, a documentary film presented by ESPN, will be screened at this years’ New Hampshire Film Festival on Friday, October 12 at 3:35 p.m. and Sunday, October 14 at 2:05 p.m. at The Music Hall.

Stay after a screening to hear from the director, Emmy award-winning documentary filmmaker Ron Yassen. Also in attendance will be the stars of the film: Coach Bobby Selkin and director of ESPN films, Adam Neuhaus. The Sunday screening will also feature a lacrosse player from the film, Isaiah Lott.

This film highlights a team of at-risk students from North Carolina’s Charlotte Secondary Charter School, who journey from being a group of novice lacrosse players (some of which had never even seen a lacrosse stick before picking one up to play) to an all-star team of state champions in just three seasons.

The film follows the lives of this ragtag team through two years of seemingly impossible challenges both on and off the field. With the odds against them in every sense, the film documents every trial, setback, and victory the team endures – from learning a new sport and how to become leaders for their teammates, to dealing with academic struggles, cancer, drug addiction, broken families and uncertain futures.

Despite the obstacles, Crossroads presents to viewers an inspiring group of young men whose futures are changed completely when given the opportunity to step up to life’s challenges and are offered the support of a mentor who refuses to give up on them.

This inspiring story of teamwork, perseverance, and the transformative power that sports can have on the lives and futures of its players proves, to quote the film, “the little guy really can rise and fight against the big guy.”

Crossroads premiered at the Tribeca Film Festival in April of this year and was also screened at the Nashville Film Festival, Montclair Film Festival, and the San Francisco Jewish Film Festival.

Don’t miss this opportunity to meet and listen to this incredible group speak about the film, their team, and the inspiring lessons they learned along the way.
