In the Waves: Finding the Meaning of Life in the Natural World

The New Hampshire Film Festival was proud to present In the Waves at The Music Hall Loft on Friday morning. In the Waves is a documentary that seeks to answer the big question — what is the meaning of life?

Jacquelyn Mills, granddaughter of Joan Mills, wrote, directed and produced, along with co-producers Andreas Mendritzki, Aonan Yang, and Nguyen-Anh Nguyen, a reflective and moving documentary that captures eighty-year-old Joan Mills in her day-to-day life following the death of her sister.

In order to make sense of her sister’s death, we follow Joan on her journey to find meaning when she explores the natural world around her coastal town and beyond. By using nature to connect and help her face the question of and meaning for life, Mills also sets the stage for the audience to ask themselves this same question.
