Oscars give a nod to 2014 NHFF films

The 2014 Oscar Nominees have been announced and you’re likely to recognize a few from the 2014 New Hampshire Film Festival!

Three of this year’s NHFF films are among the 87th Academy Award Nominations for the 2015 Oscars.

“Boyhood”, nominated for Best Picture

BOYHOOD has been nominated in six categories: Best Picture, Best Actor in a Supporting Role (Ethan Hawke), Best Actress in a Supporting Role (Patricia Arquette), Directing (Richard Linklater), Writing – Original Screenplay (Richard Linklater) and Film Editing (Sandra Adair).

The documentary Last Days in Vietnam was nominated for an Oscar for Best Documentary Feature and the short film The Phone Call was nominated for an Oscar for Best Short Film – Live Action.

New Hampshire Film Festival 2010 alum Laura Poitras (The Oath) was also nominated this year for her documentary, CitizenFour.

Shout-out to the NHFF 2014 films that were short listed (but didn’t get the official nomination):

Force Majeure – Foreign Language
Life Itself – Feature Documentary
Lion’s Mouth Opens – Short Documentary
