Alysia Reiner to Receive Inaugural Pioneer in Filmmaking Award

We are so pleased to announce an inaugural Pioneer in Filmmaking Award – to be presented at Saturday night’s festivities at the Music Hall. Set to receive this year’s award, is Alysia Reiner – a well-known actress and producer, whose film, Equity, is headlining our jam-packed weekend theme celebrating successful women working in the film industry.

Reiner, who’s most known for her role as Fig in Netflix’s Orange is the New Black, will accept the award Saturday night prior to her film’s screening during a special presentation slated for 7:15pm at The Music Hall.

As an accomplished actress and founder of production company Broad Street Pictures, Reiner developed, produced and starred in Equity — a first ever film about women on Wall Street. In addition to her film success, Reiner has been invited to The White House, The United Nations and Cannes Lion to speak about removing stereotypes from women, and women in entrepreneurship.

We’re incredibly excited to Alysia Reiner and her film Equity at this year’s film festival,” said NHFF Executive Director Nicole Gregg. “Alysia is breaking new ground and paving new paths for female-driven stories and roles. This new award recognizes her amazing contributions to making women truly matter in the film industry.

On Sunday, join us for a Women in Film panel at 10:30am at the Discover Portsmouth Center.
