Justin Connor’s The Golden Age

Thursday night at the New Hampshire Film Festival, Justin Connor’s The Golden Age premiered. The film is a documentary style film that chronicles the journey of subversive pop star Maya O’Malley. Maya sets out on a spiritual journey through India after he is dropped from his record label. His journey brings up many issues that he has dealt with throughout his life, such as his relationship with his father.

After the screening of the film, Justin Connor, who is the director, producer, writer, and star of the film, held a Q&A. In his Q&A, Connor spoke about how important the process of creation was to him. He described film making as a process in which “either you created something unique or you didn’t.” He then went on to describe how he wants to “Make content [he] can stand behind.”

Thursday kicked-off a great first day at NHFF, including this screening of The Golden Age! Don’t forget to check out the rest of our weekend schedule for more must-see films.
