NH Day and Night Comes to a Close

NH Day and Night is a unique and very important day to spotlight the creative film talent alive and well in the Granite State. NH is known for its independent spirit, so it’s not surprising to see this reflected in the independent film community.

We asked Programming Director Nicole Galovski how she felt about today’s events:

“We had a terrific turnout for a Thursday. We are grateful for the number of people who came out to support our New Hampshire filmmakers and films. Just think, if this many people were playing hooky from work today, what’s it going to be like tomorrow evening and this weekend?”

As the daytime festivities came to an end, there was still plenty to look forward to during the evening. Juston McKinney, Official Comedian of the NH Film Festival, opened the night by presenting Lisa Muskat the Van McLeod Award. After the screening of her film Prince Avalanche, the NH Night Awards were announced. The NH Night Awards are presented each year to films and filmmakers who qualify for consideration as a NH made film. A list of this year’s winners can be found here.

We hope to see you again tomorrow as we pick up where we left off. Registration at the Discover Portsmouth Center will open at 9AM, and we will be screening at three venues; the Music Hall, the Music Hall Loft and the Moffatt Ladd House. During the evening from 5:30PM – 7PM there will be a Screenplay Competition Reception at RiverRun Bookstore, and beginning at 7PM the Opening Night Ceremonies at the Music Hall.

If you are feeling overwhelmed by choosing which films or events to attend, take a look at the top recommendations from NHFF Chairman of the Board Zac Gregg & Sheraton Portsmouth GM Robert Cartwright.
