Whether or not you’ve seen Nymphomaniac:  Vol. I doesn’t matter, (if you want to catch up it’s available on VOD) don’t miss the experience of catching the second half of the film written and directed by Denmark’s, Lars von Trier at The Music Hall Loft, with a live audience and post discussion.

Von Trier, controversial personally, and professionally has an incredibly diverse portfolio often mixing star studded casts, with high-reaching themes and a unique style.  Oh, and he was famously banned from the Cannes Film Festival in 2011 for comments about identifying with Nazis.

This is the final installment to Lars von Trier’s unofficially titled “Depression Trilogy”; a collection made up of Antichrist, Melancholia and Nymphomaniac.  Three films where the only thing in common is the depression that plagues their female protagonists.

Both parts of the sexual epic chronicle the journey of a self proclaimed nymphomaniac as she recounts her life to a kind stranger who finds her beaten in an alley and brings her to his home to care for her.

Vol. II picks up where the first left off, with a young Joe falling for Jerome and a journey of self-discovery, which ultimately leads her down a dark path to adulthood.  Our anti-hero finds that through motherhood her life is no longer her own and searches for it off the proverbial deep end amid a series of graphic S&M scenes, and a threesome.  We don’t want to give anymore away, so head over to The Loft this weekend for a film that will certainly leave you with questions that can be voiced during the post film discussion.

Extremely explicit sexual content. No one under 18 will be admitted.
