Tom Bergeron, Grand Jury Panelist – arm wrestling champion

Our Press Conference with Grand Jury Panelist Tom Bergeron just concluded at the Discovery Portsmouth Center. As a panelist Tom is in part responsible for who this year’s NHFF Granny Awards will be presented to. This two-time Emmy Award-winning host was chosen as a jury member because of his expansive career in the entertainment industry which started back in 1972 as a broadcaster for the local WBZ-TV. He is now best known as the host of ‘America’s Funniest Home Videos’ and ABC’s #1 hit, ‘Dancing With the Stars’. He is often referred to as the busiest man in television with other projects ranging from the host of the 60th Annual Golden Globe Awards, the 33rd Annual Daytime Emmy Awards to his extensive volunteering with the charity, March of Dimes.

He answered the question of what over the years stood out as his favorite America’s home video, mentioning two – one where a dog bites its own leg repeatedly because it does not recognize it as his own:

and one where a sky diving grandmother loses her dentures during the fall – both of which I said I remembered and perhaps many of you will too!

He spoke of the dancers he works with and their immense talent and his great respect for their art form. He spoke of his love of New Hampshire, particularly Portsmouth and how glad he is to be here in our city again, this time with the honor of being a Grand Jury member making it that much more special. With these three gregarious men at the table it is sure to be interesting, inspiring and laugh-out-loud hilarious!

Oh, did we mention that Tom Bergeron arm wrestled Dave Currier from Vital during his press event? Tom totally kicked his butt.
